Tattoo Aftercare
Your tattoo is an open wound and proper aftercare is essential for healing and long-term results.
When you leave the shop:
•Leave the adhesive bandage on for 4-7 days. If it is leaking you can remove it.
•Avoid heavy workouts for the first 3 days.
•Removing the adhesive can be tricky, I recommend taking it off in the shower under warm soapy water.
After you take off the adhesive bandage:
•Wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
•Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and antibacterial, fragrance-free soap. (I recommend Dr. bronners soap (orange bottle), CeraVe, or the OG dial soap.
•Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub.
•Apply a THIN layer of fragrance-free moisturizer. (The less chemicals the better.) I recommend Hustle butter, or organic coconut oil. Please avoid petroleum based products like Vaseline, aquaphor, and A&D ointment.
•REPEAT 1–2 times daily.
•Keep the tattoo clean and dry between washes.
Wear loose, clean clothing over the area.
During Healing:
•Do not scratch, pick, or peel flaking skin.
•Avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and soaking in baths.
•Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning.
•Avoid excessive sweating when possible.
•Do not apply petroleum jelly, alcohol, or heavily scented products unless instructed by your artist.
Long-Term Care
•Once healed, keep your tattoo moisturized.
•Apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to protect the tattoo and preserve its vibrancy.
Healing Timeline
Most tattoos heal on the surface within 2–4 weeks, though complete healing beneath the skin can take several weeks longer. Expect the full length of healing to be at least a month long. Do not OVER moisturize to make it look shiny. Let your body rejuvenate itself.
Questions or Concerns?
If you experience excessive redness, swelling, unusual discharge, or signs of infection, contact a healthcare professional and reach out to your artist.
Healing well starts with following your aftercare instructions. Treat your tattoo with care and enjoy your new artwork!
